The Last Post…

What an incredible week we had.  So much talent in one place!  So much fun, friendship and worship.  We are all very tired and looking forward to sleeping in our own beds.  However, leaving camp is always a bitter/sweet time.  Leaving friends and a safe comfortable place is not easy.  Not to mention three fantastic meals a day (that we don’t have to cook!).

We, the faculty and camp staff, have prayed for the campers throughout the week, and we will continue to pray for their safety, well being, and their walk with God.  It has been a privaledge to be at camp this past week and to share some time with your kids.  They are all wonderful and precious and we thank God for each and everyone of them.

Take care and we hope to see you next year!!!

If their is anyone who wishes to have copies of the camp pictures please contact John Burton at burtonimages@shaw.ca.  Cabin prints can also be ordered from John (and they’re free!).

There’s a Sumami Coming…

All week the camp staff have been warning of a sumami coming…well much to our relief the insuing water (from balloons and buckets) did not happen.  Camp Staff must be loosing their touch.

They did, however, win the Toilet Bowl trophy again.  The win was not that easy as the campers had the guidance of Ed “The Strategist” Wong and the play making agility of Mike “The Bullet” Burge.  The campers held their own until the last quarter when the Camp Staff got three lucky touchdowns.  OK they were good touchdowns.  All in all a history making game because the campers lost by less than 10 touchdowns.  Final score was 5-2.

Worship Festival was once again an incredible experience that both campers and staff enjoyed.  Thank you Carsen for another great worship night.  Several campers played at the festival and did an awesome job.

Drama night finished off the day with plays and skits that were really incredible this year.  There are definitely some future Oscar winners in this crowd!

Wednesday Was An “Apple Day”

Well, we had another beautiful day here at camp sunrise.  Our faculty photographer was away for the day so a few campers filled in with some pictures.  Much appreciated!

After a hard day of practice the campers were treated to a musical extravaganza with tons of munchies.  DJ’s Wong sent the roof a shaken and put on a great light show.  Next morning is sleep in… good thing cause the way those kids were grooving they’ll need the rest!

Apple Day refers t having a good day as opposed to an Onion Day, which is  blah…

The Sun Is Back!

What a great day we had!  The sun came back in time for our annual pilgrimage along the beach; a nice lunch by the shore, some campers went swimming, and Mike preached the word.  What could be better.

We had a formal dinner catered by the kitchen staff; roast beef, roasted potatoes mmmmm!!  Many of the campers dressed in suits and fancy dresses.  A very nice meal!  Thank you Kitchen Staff.

Lots of other outdoor activities; football, baseball, and swimming in the pool (with water tempuratures barely about the freezing point).  We also had our mid-week performance.  Time is flying by really fast.  Band, vocal and guitar all performed and what a performance!  While the vocal and guitar groups were stellar, the band, lead by guest Mark Hall, has brought the fun and excitement back to the brass band.  Well done by all!!

Later that evening the Camp Staff treated us to “God Rock”.  A contemporary, rock-n-roll worship fest of epic proportions.  The Campers loved it;  when we get our hearing back we’ll love it too.

Into The Monday Groove…

We’re well in our groove now as we enter the weekdays of camp.  The campers are all working hard and learning lots from our great bunch of leaders.

So far the cabin awards have gone to boys cabins.  Go figure!  The girls have vowed for retribution and have been cleaning like mad.  OK, well maybe that’s abit of an exaggeration but hey, everyone likes to win candy.

Cabin skits at campfire were fantastic and really showed the creativity of the kids.  One of the boys cabins made up a song for the girls that pretty well guaranteed them to be pummeled at some point in the next few days.

Included are some portraits taken by the campers in the photo elective.  Future photographers?

Here are some highlights.

Now We Get Started…

Well Sunday things really got going.  The first day of the full schedule and activities.  Band is proving to be a force to recon with; you can hear them in Lower Camp!  Vocal major was happy to see Judy arrive but Barb is the real drill master.  Drama campers are, well, dramatic!  And  Guitar is full of laid back chillin string plucking dudes.

Family feud saw the girls stomp the boys by about 300 points.  Great competition but we’ll have to wait to see who reins supreme at week’s end.  It’s still early and we’ve had tons of fun already.

Camp Is Finally Here!!!

What a beautiful day to start camp.  We have just over 100 campers this year; the power of prayer!  Steve said we weren’t working hard enough so he is pleased with the high number.

We had a wonderful start, campers are getting to know each other, and our first campfire was awesome.  It is really apparent that there is tons of talent at this years camp.  The end of camp program is going to be a treat for everyone!

Here are the first in a series of images that will document the week.  I hope you enjoy and will post comments.  The kids love to hear from you.

And The Countdown Starts…

Just a couple more weeks before Senior Music and Performing Arts Camp.  The bar was set pretty high by the Junior Music camp kids.  Lets see how the Senior campers will do.

We are looking forward to a great week (hopefully dry!) and we know the campers will be amazed by what we have in store for them.

Cheers and God Bless.
